Rovers: Drive a Mars Rover
Ever fancied driving your own rover on Mars? The Planetary Society and LEGO Company have established a network of Mars Stations. These stations consist of a rover and web camera which can be driven over the internet. Click here to go to the official page. You will notice some of the stations are no longer in operation so below are the links to the active sites.

Rocketry: Model Rocketry

Students can get involved in rocketry by either buying rockets from models shops or even making them themselves. There are two main types of model rockets, ones which use a combustable propellant and those which uses water under pressure. Another type found in smaller rockets uses a mixture of baking powder and vinegar so to produce carbon dioxide under pressure as the propellent.


Here we will concern ourselves with the two main types:

Combustable propellant rockets: I first got involved in this type of rocketry while at university when I became a member of the Kent Amateur Rocket Team (KART) as part of the rocket structure team. The rocket was made out of carbon fibre so to be strong yet light.
